Easy grocery shopping with an infant

These days it’s even more convenient to “go grocery shopping” without having to leave your house. With a click you can get delivery or curbside pick up. Although these options are so convenient, they do not beat the wonderful psychological effects that we get from human interaction. So, if you spend long days at home, say, a stay at home mom, or you work from home, I would encourage you to get out of the house and into the stores as often as possible. In this post I break down stress free grocery shopping with an infant. How to shop for different items and how to make a physical shop enjoyable. You can truly have an easy grocery shopping trip with an infant.

Make your list and check it twice

Make a list to determine all the groceries you need. Include absolutely anything that could be bought at a grocery store! Then split up your list to pick up or delivery/subscription items. Separate these from items like fresh produce that are advisable to pick out by yourself.

For a smaller shop with an infant, make sure you have a great stroller. It needs to be one with a large basket underneath. It also needs be easily lifted with one hand. That way you don’t have too much of a struggle with it. It also shouldn’t take up too much space in your trunk once it’s collapsed, so that you can obviously have room for your groceries.

I really enjoy the Graco click connect system stroller that can be attached to an infant car seat if needed. It checks all these boxes and additionally, it is easy to use. The infant seat clicks in place very easily. It also is very easy to maneuver one handed. So you even can sip on your favorite drink while you swivel your cargo through the aisles.

For a large shop, you can use the grocery cart at the store. Feel free to place your baby in the shopping cart. There are beautiful cloth liners that can be used to barricade your infant from licking up all the germs of cart.

Your little one will have to be able to sit up right to be a good candidate for a large grocery shop in the store’s cart. A car seat tends to take up too much room in a standard grocery cart.

Also, depending on how you get your groceries back into your house, you may need a sturdy cargo wagon that can house your little one and your groceries!

Be strategic with your subscription services

Buying bulk items online through subscription services can make for huge savings. Amazon subscribe and save also has extremely affordable diapers and wipes, not to mention it can be a one stop shop for household goods such as toilet paper.  Premium diapers like Coterie and Hello Bello can be ordered on their subscription services.

If you’re concerned about having toxic products that your little one may get into, Grove has a subscription for all natural cleaning products that can put you at ease. These can also be delivered right to your door.

Pick up your favorite non perishables

Grocery pick up services such as Target, Walmart or your local grocery store are a wonderful way to get those specific items that you love which may be particular to a store.

Or, items that are not just specific to a store but are also too bulky to finagle with a little one in tow. I’m thinking for instance, Aldi’s diapers. They are hands down the cheapest diapers I have ever encountered!

But, can be tricky to purchase if you just have a stroller to carry your cargo. Of course you can also use store pick up for things you may be most likely to forget. This is definitely make your grocery shopping easier. If you’re like me and there is something you maybe don’t buy during your regular weekly shop, this is a great way to pick it up. It could be anything from light bulbs to insoles.

Keep Your mental health a priority

It’s good to get out of the house! For you and for baby.

Your mental health score will shoot up!

You may also be lucky enough to bump into some senior citizens at the grocery store. Most older folk seem love babies and you’ll be brightening someone’s day.

Not convinced you want to get out?

Well, there will also come a time in your parenting life, when you will be be wondering what other activity could there possibly be to keep baby entertained? So take baby grocery shopping.

It helps the day go by.

It can also become a fun weekly activity if you do smaller more frequent shops. You can just ditch the cart use a stroller with a big under carriage. Use this opportunity to pick up fresh and yummy produce while engaging your little one in the process. Who knows but, this may help your little one be less of a picky eater.

Prepare your baG

Ready your diaper bag. Make sure that your diaper bag is fully stocked with an adequate amount of everything you need. It would be extremely frustrating to be down to your last four wipes and have to deal with a blow out as you pull up to the grocery store.

Make sure that your baby is fed and dry before you leave the house and make sure baby is still dry when you enter the grocery store. That said, before you leave the house, make sure that baby’s diaper is nice and dry and baby is fed. I cannot stress this enough! I would also double check baby’s diaper when you pull up to the store.

Perform a quick car diaper change if needed and toss the dirty diaper on the way in. A comfortable baby will determine the outcome of your outing. This is will make for easy grocery shopping with an infant!

Now get out the house and have some grocery shopping fun!
