Looking for something different to do with your large canister of oats? Keep reading for quick and fuss free oatmeal waffles ready in minutes with minimal clean up!

I got a mini waffle maker because it was so cute! Actually it was also very convenient to slip into my luggage to whip up waffles when we got to our destination. My little girl loves waffles! After sometime, I realized that I don’t have to make just regular waffles.

I can make them a little healthier by taking out a few ingredients and substituting in others. We have a lot of oatmeal. We do come up with creative ways to jazz up the regular porridge.

But, I thought maybe we could use the oatmeal as a base for the waffles. So I came up with this recipe…

It only takes 5 ingredients in a blender (including water). Sometimes I’ll add in a 6th ingredient of vanilla but that’s completely optional. The texture is a bit more chewy, but I think that’s what makes it so hardy and filling. These waffles freeze beautifully. You can pop them in the toaster which gives them a nice crispy crust.

You will need the following items for this recipe. A blender (I use a mini food processor), a mini waffle iron, and the follow measuring cups 1 cup, 1/4 cup, 1 teaspoon, 1/4 teaspoon if you want to add vanilla.

Method for oatmeal waffles

The recipes comes together very easily, in your blender add 1 cup of oats, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 egg, 1 large ripe banana (the riper the sweeter your waffles will be), 1/4 cup of water, and you have the option of adding in 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla.

I like to plug in my waffle iron before I start to blend up my ingredients. That way, my waffles are ready even quicker.

Once the waffle iron is hot, use the 1/4 cup measure to scoop out 1/4 cup of the batter and place in the middle of your waffle iron.

Push the lid down and wait for some yummy oatmeal waffles!

I’d love to know if you tried them and liked them! And what are some great recipes you’ve tried with your mini waffle iron?
