5 minute natural makeup: SKin

You want to break down your face into zones. skin, under-eyes, eyes, cheeks, lips, You will find that you may not even need to cover all these zones to look good!

For skin, start with your baby’s sunscreen. Yes, save yourself buying another product. I love the baby bum mineral sunscreen. The consistency is creamy you only need a little amount. I say only a little because you’re really actually just using it as a makeup base. With a high SPF like 50 you’re still going to get some protection because the mineral sun screen literally sits on the skin like a “screen”.

You also want to use a mineral sunscreen because it has a white cast. This cast is beautiful for erasing blemishes. Darker areas on your skin will instantly be covered up! It’s as close as your can get to a blank canvas to work on. And this works on every skin tone.

Using a nice powder brush that will help you buff and blend. Follow up your mineral sunscreen layer with power make up that matches your skin tone. You need to buff this in and amazingly it will grab nicely onto the sunscreen.

Why powder? This will set nicely into the sunscreen to make the color on your face almost non transferable so you can kiss and love on baby without worry.

5 minute natural makeup: Under eyes

Moving to under the eyes. If the mineral sunscreen hasn’t helped with the dark circles dab on some creamy concealer and lightly blend it into the powder. Just a tiny dab. I never need this though and I don’t think I’ve had a  full night’s sleep in about 18 months!

I guess it comes with the territory.

Eyes

Eyes are also optional unless you need it to look more awake. My eyes usually hurt from the lack of sleep so I don’t want anything around them. I skip this part, but You can condition your lashes as part of your evening routine with a touch of castor oil to make them look fuller.

You may also opt for eyelash extensions.

Another option for those that have bigger eyes can be to use an eye pencil that matches the shade of your lashes to tight line around your eye lashes to make your lashes them seem fuller.

Tight lining is putting the eye pencil on the inner part of your lash line. You need to place the eyeliner closer to your eyeball instead of letting your lashes be between your eyeball and eyeliner. This is a key skill to have. If you can master this, you will look like you have no makeup on and you’ll have the appearance of having very full lashes.

I have found that focusing on your lashes makes your eyes instantly pop without the need for eyeshadows or even brows.

Speaking of brows…don’t be tempted to do them up…leave them as natural as you can and your face will be more natural looking.

Cheeks

Cheeks are optional unless you absolutely need it to look awake or add more color to your face. Place a light dab of your favorite blush on the apples of your cheeks. This can go a long way.

Lips

For lips you need to be kiss ready. 1000 baby kisses a day at least haha. So skip the lip color and use a balm that will really set into your lips. The Burts bees plain lip balm is a favorite of mine. It gives your lips a nice sheen but it also sets into your lips nicely. And of course you can just opt for good old vaseline or Aquaphor which you may have around anyway as it is also great for baby’s delicate skin. If you want to use color on your lips, you can get a colored balm that will have minimum application time or a lip stain.

So there you have a 5 minute natural make up for mama’s with newborns. You can probably do all this in less than five minutes. The trick to look airbrushed is all in the skin tips I have laid out. Goodbye tired looking mama! You’ll look great with these tips and you’ll get renewed energy to go grocery shopping or whatever you need to do to take on the day.
